The NCAA men's soccer two-semester proposal is in its rescission period through 5 p.m. ET, Friday November 6, 2026. At least 241 member rescission requests are required to overturn it. A hypothetical 'soccer FBS/FCS' split is not a recognized membership tier. Re-check the official status after the deadline.

Decision gates before any portal entry
Evidence > reputation1. Realistic CB playing time
Current depth chart and returning CBs; head coach explains Cole's specific 2027 LCB/RCB role, not simply 'you can compete'. His CSU starts are the benchmark.
Required2. Net family cost ≤ C$20,000
Written tuition, fees, housing, meals, health insurance, travel estimates and athletic/academic aid, converted to CAD using a documented exchange rate.
Hard cap3. Meaningful soccer and development upgrade
A stronger technical/pro environment with credible minutes. Prioritize teams playing out from the back, rather than a long-ball system in which Cole's strengths are underused.
Required4. Coach AND athletic-department commitment
Evidence that the institution can fund and sustain the program. If any separate group is actually created, require a real membership and championships plan, not a coach's speculation.
Required5. Admission, credits and international status
University transfer-credit evaluation, January enrolment feasibility, NCAA eligibility and any F-1/SEVIS transfer process must be checked with the appropriate compliance professionals.
Required6. Portal and CSU downside
Entering the portal may change the relationship with CSU and the security of Cole's current role. Do not sacrifice a proven starting position without materially stronger documented upside.
Decision riskWhat to ask Noah first
- What exact 2027 centre-back openings exist? Which returners occupy those spots?
- What does the coach genuinely anticipate for Cole's playing role and minutes?
- What is the written all-in CAD cost, net of every award?
- Does the athletic director share the coach's calendar/funding position?
- What is the team's playing-out-from-the-back philosophy and actual full-match film evidence?
- What is the university's January admission and international-transfer path?
NCAA model and next decisions
Status must be verified after 5 p.m. ET Nov 6Two-semester model survives
Division I would move to a fall/spring schedule starting 2027–28. No new soccer subdivision is automatically created. Compare coach plans, spring development and roster openings.
Proposal rescinded
Existing NCAA DI framework continues pending new rulemaking. Program quality, minutes and aid remain the critical transfer factors.
Alternative high-investment group discussed
Would require actual governance, membership, funding, competition and championship arrangements. A list of 80 supposedly participating schools is not verified.
Decision calendar
NCAA rescission deadline. Recheck official legislative status and announcements; do not assume the final outcome before then.
Evidence phase. Review film, public sources, roster departures and cost estimates, within recruiting rules.
Men's soccer transfer notification window. Confirm current dates with CSU compliance before any decision.
Spring notification window under current 2026–27 published guidance; confirm any future legislation.

Data governance
The 35-school list and October Top 20 are research hypotheses, not active recruitment, offers or proof of a CB vacancy. Each school has an evidence field to record a dated source and a named contact.
No school has a verified place in a hypothetical 'soccer FBS' division. The NCAA's current proposal status is independently checkable at its legislative database.
Will Caldwell's Georgetown minutes are a useful reminder that a prestigious program can offer limited minutes, but one player's deployment does not establish another player's likely outcome.
